I want to share a interview YoBeat did with Todd Richards back in March. I just found it yesterday, but it is hilarious. Click here to read it.
They just announced the new uniforms for the U.S.A. Olympic snowboard team. I'm still not really sure what I think of them.
Yes, it is a jacket that looks like a plaid flannel and pants that look like jeans (with rips and all).
X Games Results
As the X Games come to an end, here are the results from all the snowboarding competitions:
Mens Superpipe
1st: Shaun White - 95.33
2nd: Iouri Podladtchikov - 93.66
3rd: Kazuhrio Kokubo - 91.00
*Everyone was pretty shocked that Shaun White did so well in this event. If you didn't watch it, you wouldn't understand why, but that's what I am here for. During practice he fell SUPER hard. I have a feeling what he did was the same thing that sent Kevin Pearce to the hospital and out of the Olympics. Shaun White is so lucky. You need to watch the video below to understand.*
Womens Superpipe
1st: Gretchen Bleiler - 96.66
2nd: Kelly Clark - 96.00
3rd: Hannah Teter - 70.00
*I personally think that Kelly Clark should have won. She has a much smoother style and goes higher than Gretchen. I would rather see someone spin a nice clean 360, than someone failing around to spin 900. Good thing I'm not a judge. Haha*
Big Air
1st: Halldor Helgason - 100
2nd: Torstein Horgmo - 94
3rd: Mikkel Bang - 83
*The way this contest works is there is a 15 minute jam session and your top 2 highest scores make up your final score.*
*Tyler Flanagan is a up-and-coming snowboarder from Mammoth Lakes WHO IS ONLY 16 YEARS OLD. He ended up coming in 5th place.*
Womens Slopestyle
1st: Jenny Jones - 92.66
2nd: Jamie Anderson - 89.33
3rd: Janna Meyen-Weatherby - 75.66
Mens Slopestyle
1st: Eero Ettala - 93.33
2nd: Eric Willett - 86.33
3rd: Chas Guldemond - 84.33
IN OTHER NEWS:
We recently got in a BUNCH of new shoes from Es and Emerica.
Es: Accel, First Blood, Theory 1.5, and Square One (with Krooked colab)
Emerica: G-Code, HSU, and the Jinx
Come in and check them out!

Olympic Snowboard (Halfpipe) Team Announced
Now that the U.S. Grand Prix is over, here is the final top 5:
Men
1. Shaun White - 1000 pts
2. Scotty Lago - 800
3. Louie Vito - 800
4. Danny Davis - 645
5. Greg Bretz - 550
Women
1. Kelly Clark - 1000 pts
2. Grethchen Bleiler - 900
3. Hannah Teter - 800
4. Elena Hight - 650
5. Ellery Hollingsworth - 600
The names that are highlighted are the riders representing the U.S. in the 2010 Olympics. It looks like we are going to have an AWESOME team.
I'm sure you are wondering why Danny Davis came in 4th but didn't make the team... well, he is out for the season with a spinal injury. On the morning or January 17th, he crashed his ATV and sustained an L3 spinal fracture. He had surgery the following Tuesday (19th). From what I heard there weren't any complications and he is going to make a full recovery. This happened before the last stop of the Grand Prix, so I am going to guess that he would have been in the top 3 if he wouldn't have gotten hurt. Bummer, bummer deal. I was super pumped about Danny repping Michigan! Maybe in 4 years...
If anyone has received the newest issue of Transworld Snowboarding, you can see that Kevin Pearce made the cover! Click here for an update on his condition.
I am excited to announce that the city of Lansing is putting on a winter festival called Frost Fest. It is Saturday, February 13th in Downtown Lansing. From 1pm to 5pm there will be tons of things going on, but the most important "activity" that you need to check out is the snowboarding demos by us - Modern Skate & Surf. For more info on this event click here or call (517) 487-3322.

TONS of Sales!
I found a new article (that I actually approve of) on Kevin Pearce's injury, snowboarding, and the Winter Olympics. To read the article, CLICK HERE.
Recently, someone sent me a link to these goggles:
They have a BUILT IN CAMERA. It shoots video (with sound) AND still images! You would think they cost a ton of $$$...but they don't...only $150. Read more about them here.
We have a TON of sales going on right now.
10%-20% off 2010 men's outerwear.
20% off 2010 women's outerwear.
20% off 2010 Rome and DC snowboards.
40%-60% off 2007-2009 outerwear.
40%-60% off 2007-2009 snowboard hardgoods.

New Skateboard Order and Snow News
I'm going to start off with good news today. Yesterday we got a ton of new skateboard stuff. The shipment included: Baker, Krooked, Real, Deathwish, Santa Cruz, Girl and Chocolate decks; Flip's Extremely Sorry video, Bones, Chocolate, Creature, Deathwish, and Shake Junt sunglasses; Thunder trucks, skate tools, Girl New Era/mesh hats, and Spitfire t-shirts.
We also restocked our women's snowboard selection. You can now select from the following:
Burton
Feather in a 144
G-Twin in a 146 and 153
Lux 136 and 147
Blender in a 151
Gnu
B Nice in a 148
Never Summer
Pandora-R in a 143
Infinity-R in a 149
A pretty good selection in my opinion.
In other awesome news, Danny Davis got 1st at the Mammoth Mountain stop for the USSA Grand Prix. The contest, as a whole, is the qualifier for this years Winter Olympics. His winning run consisted of 5 hits; a switch double cork, a 900, a 180 with a crail grab, a double cork, and then a 3rd double cork.
He landed the first switch double cork at the Grand Prix, as well as the first person to land 3 double corks in a comp.
If you didn't know, Danny Davis is from Highland, Michigan. His home resort is Alpine Valley. Way to represent the high-five state!!!
Here's the video of his winning run:
So, last blog post I talked about Kevin Pearce's recent injury. This is the latest from his doctor; "We've been able to remove his breathing tube, and he is slowly regaining consciousness and able to follow commands." Here is the article with an update.
On Wednesday, ABC's Good Morning America did a story about Kevin Pearce and his injury. I watched in on ABC's website, and was extremely embarrassed with the information that was given. Christine Brennan's "expert" information was the worst part. She clearly doesn't have real knowledge about the world of snowboarding.
Click here to watch the report on ABC.
After watching the video, if it make you as embarrassed/angry as I am, you should email Christine Brennan with your thoughts. Here is her email: christine@christinebrennan.com
Pass it along to your snowboarder friends, so she gets a ton of emails regarding her lack of knowledge.
Well that'll all I have for today. Enjoy the massive amount of snow that we are getting in the next two days!

Sad News + New Vans Shoes
Unfortunately, I have to start off this blog post with horrible news. Snowboarder, Kevin Pearce, is in critical condition at the University of Utah hospital. He was training in Park City for the Olympic Qualifier at Mammoth when he hit his head on the icy halfpipe wall. Kevin was highly favored to make the U.S. Olympic Team, and is the one snowboarder who gives Shaun White a run for his money. Click HERE to get more info about this awful situation.
On the up side, we got in new Vans shoes a couple weeks ago. The styles are the TNT IV, the Chukka Lows, two different Half Cab Pros, and the Eras (the pictures are in that order).
I just wanted to remind everyone that we do guarantee the lowest price. So, if you find a store/website with a lower price we will price match.
